Signed Playback and Cache Exclusions

Prevent cached pages, CDNs, and optimization plugins from freezing expired signed VidFlow playback URLs.

Content reviewed: October 20, 2026.

When this applies

Signed playback is used for videos stored locally through VidFlow AI Media Library storage. Provider-hosted videos and YouTube embeds do not use the same signed local URL path. We recommend publishing completed videos to YouTube before embedding and selecting its published player to reduce video bandwidth and playback load on your WordPress hosting.

Exclude these paths

  • /vidflow-video/*.
  • /wp-json/vidflow/v1/public-video-url*.
  • ?rest_route=/vidflow/v1/public-video-url*.

Do not delay this script

Do not delay assets/js/embed-refresh.js until user interaction. It refreshes stale signed URLs when cached pages serve old embed markup.

After changing cache settings

  1. Clear the page cache.
  2. Clear the CDN cache if one is in front of the site.
  3. Open an embedded video page in a private window.
  4. Check the browser network panel if the video still fails.

Google and Pro local media

The same cache and script checks matter for Google local videos. Pro merged playback uses the same shared public-video-url refresh route and cache exclusions. Follow the merged-video guide for source selection. Exclude only the documented VidFlow paths; do not disable caching for all site content.

Cookie preferences

Choose optional services for this browser. Your choice lasts 180 days. New purposes need a new choice; allowing Vimeo does not allow analytics or advertising.

Rejecting keeps video links available. Change or withdraw anytime using Cookie preferences. Withdrawal removes loaded players; it cannot undo earlier requests or delete Vimeo cookies. Manage those in your browser.
